Campoamor Theatre

If you ask anybody about the most iconic buildings of Oviedo, there is no doubt that they will mention the Campoamor Theatre. This building is a symbol of the city and one of the main attractions of the area.

First of all, it is important to mention that the theatre is located in the city centre, right next to the main street, and the park. Its location makes it the perfect spot to grab the passers-by attention and add some beauty to the surroundings. What is more, as it was constructed in the eighteenth century, its architecture is breath taking. It is three stores high and the front side is covered with massive windows that not only allow the light to illuminate the main stage, but also lets you appreciate the marvellous interior design from the outside. 

Secondly, when one thinks about the city of Oviedo, it is impossible to not get a mental image of this wonderful theatre. Tourists from around the country stop in the capital of Asturias due to the importance of this building. In addition, international opera and ballet companies perform in this theatre almost on a daily basis, allowing the Asturian population to enjoy world-recognized representations in the most amazing stage. The Campoamor Theatre is a reference point for the performing arts community, and that is why only the best acts are able to entre its stage. Moreover, the Princess of Asturias Awards are held every year in this theatre in which the work of the most important researches, writers, sports-people, and politics, are rewarded. 

Lastly, my favourite public building is the Campoamor Theatre, not only because of its impressive architectural design and superb location, but also because of its importance for the city of Oviedo and its people. The Campoamor Theatre represents everything that is good in the city, and for that reason it is a must-see when visiting it.
