More money means more culture

Over the last few years, local authorities have neglected some of the most important pillars of our town. Both, our museums and public gardens have suffered the consequences of the financial crisis, but this situation needs to change.

First of all, our town has two of the best museums of the region, but the lack of public funding along with the drop of its popularity among the younger generations, has made them fall into oblivion. However, this situation could be easily fixed if the local authorities were willing to invest in new collections, and create some buzz about local culture promoting it for instance in its social media. 

Secondly, many tourists that happen to come by during the summer holidays are shocked by the poor condition of our public gardens. While the town has grown exponentially during the last decade, the public gardens are almost on the brick of extinction. What is more, this is affecting the population due to the increase of pollution in the town centre and the lack of public spaces. One may believe that health should be above any other policy. 

It seems quite odd that in the year 2020 we are having this discussion, but we need to take action and start making some noise. Our local culture is being left aside and, furthermore, now our health is also at stake. Local authorities should start investing in culture, but even more, in public gardens, as they are a necessary facility for their voters' lives.
