Exercise: The aim of this project is that every student writes an essay under the title: MODERN TECHNOLOGY: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE FUTURE. In your essay, you should choose examples of modern technology and discuss their advantages and disadvantages, both in your personal life and in the lives of others. We’d also like you to end with some predictions for the future regarding technology.

A class booklet containing all your essays is going to be printed so that future students, years from now, can read them, see what you thought, compare their own views and experiences with yours and see how accurate your predictions were for the world they live in.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE FUTURE.

The last few decades have seen how technology has become a vital element of our routines. Even though there are still some skeptics, the advantages of their usage most times make up for their disadvantages. However, both should be taken into account, but could you imagine a work with no technology at all?

The most clear example of modern technology in todays society is the use of mobile phones. Almost everybody has one, the little kid down the street and their great-grandmother as well, Western society has grown too dependent of this technology. We use them to communicate, take pictures, and surf the Internet. But imagining a world without them is close to impossible. For that reason, we should control the time we expend using them, and to check if we are wasting our time or not doing so. 

Computers have become a commodity since the turn of the century. What 30 years ago seemed like an impossible idea, is now present in almost every household. In the case of personal computers, their advantages outdo by far their drawbacks. If you have a computer with Internet connection, there is no limit to the possibilities available just one click away. Information is easier to get than ever, but this is also causing the appearance of misinformation or as the American media puts it, fake news. We need to be aware of the dangers of believing these sources as they could affect and influence our opinions. 

All in all, modern technology has conquered our lives in the last 20 years, and this is just the beginning of it. For that reason we need to be wary of new inventions but never skeptic because most of them are designed to make our lives easier.
