Mamma Mia!
ABBA is considered to be one of the greatest band of history, however, this does not mean that making a musical production based on their music was a good idea. And let me tell you the truth, it was not a good idea… it was an amazing one! The lyrics, the music, the stage, and the actors elevate this greatness to another level.
When one of these songs is played, most people are able to recognize them instantly. This gives the musical play an advantageous start, as it is difficult to go wrong with these memorable pieces. Nevertheless, what you expect is not what you get, and that makes it even better. One could imagine that the playwrights would change some of the lyrics to fit the story, but they cleverly decided to keep them untouched. This was an intelligent move as the audience already knows the songs and you can sing along throughout the whole play.
The cinematographic adaptation of this play raise the bar thanks to the amazing performances of the cast, but these expectations are undoubtedly met when you go see the live performance. The West End is the place to go if you enjoy the band’s songs and the film. Even though you may think that you do not need to go see this play, once the curtain raises, you will not be able to tear your eyes away from the stage.
Despite criticism over musical plays and what many millennials may say about listening to a group like ABBA, Mamma Mia! is an amazing play that every 80’s music fan should watch. The music will capture your attention and the actors will get your heart.
